LiteSpeed è un nuovo Web Server che mira a competere con Apache, una delle soluzioni più interessanti e sicure da utilizzare con il proprio Hosting. LiteSpeed al momento supporta pienamente i file .htaccess e l’URL Rewrite, sebbene non sia compatibile completamente a livello di moduli.
Il nome è stato scelto probabilmente in base al fatto che i suoi autori lo considerano il più veloce; un benchmark è pubblicato nel sito.
Ecco i benchmark relativi alle prestazioni tra LiteSpeed 2.1, in confronto ad Apache e Lighttpd:
LiteSpeed ha anche una protezione contro attacchi DDOS ed un pannello admin (accessibile tramite browser) per configurare alcuni parametri, verificare i dati del server e tante altre cose interessanti.
Supporta PHP, CGI, PERL, e RUBY ON RAILS, etc.
La versione Standard Edition di LiteSped è gratuita, ed è possibile scaricarla da qui.
